Blog Post 3: My dream job
Always i´ve thought that an office job would be torture and the worst place to work. I hate being in a place doing the same thing all day; my concentration does not contribute much. So, my dream job will have to be dynamic, preferentially outside or in a big place because I don't like close spaces (claustrophobia, hahaha).
I think that a job that has these conditions is being a reporter. Obviously, it must have some parts that I don’t like, but in summary, I think it is the best job for me. I imagine that a reporter is constantly traveling to different places, so the reporter needs to be an adaptive person and should have clear diction.
I believe the worst part of working as a reporter is the salary. The average salary for a reporter is between $500 and $100,000. It sounds pretty much, but considering the cost of living in Chile, it's not a decent wage.
Money matters, of course, but I still love the world of journalism. If you don’t notice, my major is journalism.
I consider that journalism is underrated and only take relevance to crises. Currently, the technological advance is replacing some tasks of journalism, but it will create new types of work in the journalism world, like fact-checking or programming for IA. Maybe I should study another major in the science area after journalism.
