Blog Post 5: Changes to my study programme
I am a first-year journalism student, and because of this, as I'm just starting my university career, I don't yet have the necessary perspective to know what changes could be made to the curriculum. It's possible that I would add courses related to new technologies, such as artificial intelligence or online media, in addition to traditional media. Considering it from that perspective, perhaps a much more updated infrastructure may be necessary. The television studio is becoming obsolete compared to other journalism schools. Also, in other countries, the degree takes four years, unlike in Chile, where its formal duration is five years. Journalism is the major with the highest percentage of regrets after completing the degree, and this might be due to how precarious journalistic work has become.
